Chandler Public School

Chandler Public School is a Class 5 primary school located 42 Kilometres east of Armidale near the village of Wollomombi. The current enrolment of the school is 30 pupils, a teaching staff of 2 permanent teachers and a supply casual teacher. Ancillary staff consists of one Senior School Assistant, General Assistant and Cleaner. All these posistions are part time. The village of Wollomombi comprises a general store, church, several houses and a community hall. Isolation is a major problem for the school. The cost of provising transport to visit the nearest major centre, Armidale, often prohibits excursions to that centre. The school enjoys good parental involvement and support. The P & C provides financial support and assistance in all areas of school endevour. The School Council is worked effectively. The School, although appearing to be well resourced, is under resourced in current and appropriate materials for the teaching of basic skills. Current and future planning seeks to address and reverse this situation. Children are relaxed and happy and exhibit and enjoy all the positive aspects of attending a small school.
